A little thought on The Value of Mockery

795151-893833-thumbnail.jpgSt Thomas More left us many great things, not least of which his witticism on being taken up to be executed: "See me safe up: for my coming down, I can shift for myself". But a comment on my post of an Al-Jihadi TV mockery got me thinking of another quotation of St. Thomas More:

"The devil...the prowde spirite...cannot endure to be mocked."

I think that whatever we think about the 'religion' of Islam, we can all agree that the idea of bombing and mutilating, capturing and murdering civilians, is purely diabolic. That is to say, of the devil. This is proven again, in line with St. Thomas More's observation, when we consider moslem rage. That is, Pope Rage, Cartoon Rage, Rushdie Rage, etc, etc, ad nauseam. It begins to seem that not only do the 'jihadist scum' (to happily quote the commenter) want to intimidate us into submission, but that they're winning! As long as we fear 'offending' them, as long as we fail to mock that which should rightly be mocked, that diabolic spirit, we're not doing what we ought against them. The commenter says that making fun of them in the light of today's almost-event is 'not funny'. I disagree.

Make no mistake, these maniacs want you and yours dead or under dhimmi submission, and they and their ilk will not cease in that until forcibly stopped. Well, the government may or may not one day wake up to the threat and do something useful against it. But for us, the everyday people, our choice is somewhat simpler. Do we want to live and die doing what we like, living as humans, or do we want to spend the rest of our lives trembling and jumping at shadows because of some cowardly murderers following what some have so eloquently described as 'the Cult of the Dead Paedophile'?  Hang it all, even if they do get us, it's only death, when all's said and done. Did you really think you were going to live forever? You'll live, you'll die, why not make the bit in between count, and worry a little less about how far you can stretch it?

Today, hundreds are alive who would have been dead if the cowardly and utterly contemptible plan to murder innocent civilians had gone off without a hitch. Tomorrow, well, that's another day. But for now, we're alive, and why shouldn't we rejoice in that? And if we can have a little fun at the expense of those scum who would have robbed us of that, whyever not? Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch the car advert my colleague posted for the fifth time. Just can't get enough of that wonderful bluff.

I thought the post was about the love of life, not the Life of Brian.
