Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:35PM There was a C list celebrity protest in London yesterday with the likes of clapped out singer Annie Lennox, and clapped out comedian Alexei Sayle, pleading on behalf of the Hamas loving Gazans. The BBC gave this event great publicity, quitely noting it was organised by "The British Muslim Initiative". No more information on this organisation was supplied by the State Broadcaster.
But the excellent Harry's Place has the goods.
You see, it turns out that the British Muslim Initiative is a sister organisation to the terrorist group Hamas, and its President, Mohammad Sawalha, has been identified by the BBC as responsible for ‘much of Hamas’ political and military strategy’ and for directing funds to Hamas’ ‘armed wing’. Oh really? And then it gets worse. The BMI’s supporters and associates include Azzam Tamimi, a Guardian ‘Comment is Free’ contributor identified by the Malaysian National News Agency as ‘Hamas’ Special Envoy’. In an appearance on BBC’s HARDTalk, Tamimi stated of suicide bombing attacks on Israel: "I would do it … If I have the opportunity I would do it … If I can go to Palestine and sacrifice myself I would do it".
It's always good to find out what the BBC does not tell you, in this case the fact that Lennox and co are plainly shilling for Hamas.

I was at the protest. An impressive turnout it has to be said. For the record there were also Jewish groups present who are opposed to Israel's actions. Hopefully international public opionion will be galvanised into taking Israel to task and ending its agression.
Noel- if you want to credit Hamas for bad aim, that is your thing. Folks in Israel don't share your optimism for continued Hamas incompetence.
