Little reported outside of the local media in Norfolk was yesterday’s return from Afghanistan of the First Battalion of the Royal Anglian Regiment (“The Vikings”).
Nine of its members died, and 57 were wounded, in some of the fiercest fighting the British Army has seen in a very long time.
Welcome home, soldiers, and thanks for a job well done!

Bravo Troops! God's blessing on you for your service to your country and the world. Thank you.
It was great to see this broadcasted tonight. Cynics suggested that the beeb et al only bothered because it sharpened the headlines about Brown's indifference to the military and the defence budget cuts, but even the MSM couldn't manufacture the genuine support and appreciation we saw from the local communities. God bless them all. We love them.
I'm not sure if I'm imaging it, but since the head of the army came out and said there's low morale amongst troops because of the indifference and lack of support for returning troops - I could swear media outlets such as the beeb have increased their positive coverage of the military.
Alison,
Good post and well said.
That must have been such an emotional homecoming. God Bless them all

I've noticed that too.
Whatever differences of opinion people may have about various military campaigns, we civilians back home should always respect and honour the 'poor bloody infantry' who risk their lives. If someone objects to a campaign, save your ire for the politicians never for the soldiers who return.
