UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it is an all out indictment of those who appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to right. It doesn't and thi
s book spells out WHY.

Sir Walter Scott was onto something when he wrote.."Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive" all those centuries ago. The purpose of this site is to expose some of the deceits that constitute contemporary political debate, to provide a principled conservative voice of dissent and to make life.... that little less tangled!

Costello's music and lyrics do fascinate me. Often there is an anger/vindictive streak in some of his lyrics that I can't quite get my head around.
I think my favourite EC songs are probably the singles he released under the name "The Imposter" in 1983 ("Pills and Soap", which I have never quite worked out what it's all about, and "Peace in our time").
Someone bought me the LP "Blood and Chocolate" as a Christmas present once, and I was amazed at the depth of the lyrics and music on it. There always seems to be a thread of "revenge on female cheaters" running through his work, and I thought "I Want You" was an astonishingly brutal song in that vein. There is passion, yet something darkly vindictive about it!
The NME used to label Costello's lyrics as "misogynist" in the 80's - I wonder what your thoughts are on that, DV?
The myopic misognist! Unfair, I think. He's on his third wife and I think he's pretty keen on women. However his lyrics have a dark edge at times, Pills and Soap being a good example. Ditto I want you. He also does triple puns, as in the song I chose. Can you spot them? I LOVE wordplay and Elvis is the best, period. I also love the passion - as in from around 3m45secs in this song!
Elvis Costello is just too cool.
I was never very fond of Elvis Costello.
