If that is the case, Mahons, then it's even worse than I thought.
A State that requires women to fight is morally bankrupt.
And Troll's Pavlovian drooling over the sight of women carrying guns tells me that he watches too many Lara Croft movies.
As I said, the video is gratuitously foul.
Bernard in most societies it would seem unnecessary for woman to be included in the military except by choice.
So think of the decision process behind it.
60 years ago a bunch of crazies decide they are going to blame all the problems of the world on your group of people they start with films and ads that bring you to the level of vermin.
Then they start to round you up, eventually they put you on trains and take you to camps where they tattoo a number on you.
They rape your women, try experimental drugs on your children. Then march you in groups into giant ovens and turn on the gas.
Then after your dead they throw some in mass graves,
but some of you they skin and make lamp shades out of your skin boil your fat down and make it into soap.
this continues for years until the war finally ends.
Now you find yourself once again surrounded by people that blame the worlds troubles on you teach their children that your vermin and use their blood to make your bread.
daily several times a day a siren sounds and you have thirty seconds to duck into a safe spot and hope that that missile doesn't hit where your chose to hide or that this one doesn't hit the school the kids are in.
this goes on for years without end
would you in that situation decide to train your whole population as soldiers woman included knowing that on any day you could be overrun by those that call for your destruction daily.

I think Bernard's repulsion might be based on another agenda. This is after all the man who once said that Jews had a historic tendency to cause trouble wherever they are.

I think both of you'es have gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick, and in Colm's case, willfully so.
The whys and wherefores of this conflict is wearyingly predictable, and leaves me disinterested by-and-large.....but, the West in general and Israel in particular have the same sickness: They're numbers are'nt increasing any more. They are being out-bred by the brown & black races in nearly every country.
It's a suicidal trend that could easily be reversed, (as Russia is doing) but in this conflicted world it is a 'numbers game', with the advantage going to those who can reproduce the fastest; Israel fully recognises this about its neighbours.
Right now, the West could not sustain a prolonged war, it just has'nt got the manpower to do so. Which is why, incidentally, so much reliance is placed on long range technical weaponry - it negates the use of manpower. (The Yanks learnt this to their cost in Vietnam; the Vietcong kept coming and could sustain the losses).
The Israelis, like Western countries, CHOOSE to have families barely above replacement level and instead rely on immigrants and now womenfolk to take up the slack in numbers.
It is madness for any country to adopt this social strategy for survival.
It's moral bankruptcy, and we'll all pay the cost in the end.
I saw plenty of those young Israeli " soldier girls " when I was in Israel last fall, riding the buses, everywhere. Some of them seem so young, teenagers.
They seem happy doing it.
