BIFFO!
Had to laugh at this story. The new suave sophisticated Irish Prime Minister is called Brian Cowen. He has a nickname - it is BIFFO. One charitable version of this is to refer to him as the Big Ignorant Fellow from Offaly. I am sure you can guess the more widely used but more crude version. So, living up to his nickname, he has been accused of "conduct unbecoming" in the Irish Parliament today referring to comments made by BIFFO after opposition leader Enda Kenny had asked questions on the issue of health spending.At the end of a heated exchange Mr Cowen sat down, and turned to Tánaiste Mary Coughlan. Dáil microphones then picked up the Taoiseach using the word "f***ers"! Oh dear! What a c....lown!

I can only guess, but I think the crude version probably relates to the restatement of just the third word in the acronym, Daphne! (ie, replace "Fellow" with a word describing one who regularly performs the act of copulation! - and I don't mean "Fortunate"!) Modesty prevents me from saying any more, of course....

BIFFO is a term we use for all people from Co. Offaly. It's only recently been adopted to refer to Mr Cowen himself.
Reg is correct in that he wasn't referring to the opposition but to the Nation Consumer Agency

I hope this serves as a reminder to Big Ron to keep checking the microphone is off!!!
It doesn't matter who he was talking about. He should learn to express himself in a manner befitting his office. I would still vote FF tomorrow but I expect Mr.Cowen to learn from his mistake.
