DEFAME ISLAM, GET SUED!
Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 09:26PM Oops, better not make any more defamatory references to the Religion of Pieces, whoops, I MEANT to say the Religion of Peace and Love - Islam.
Yes, concerned about what they see as a rise in the defamation of Islam, leaders of the world's Muslim nations are considering taking legal action against those that slight their religion or its sacred symbols. It was a key issue during a two-day summit that ended Friday in this western Africa capital. The Muslim leaders are attempting to demand redress from nations like Denmark, which allowed the publication of cartoons portraying the Prophet Muhammad in 2006 and again last month, to the fury of the Muslim world. Though the legal measures being considered have not been spelled out, the idea pits many Muslims against principles of freedom of speech enshrined in the constitutions of numerous Western governments.
"I don't think freedom of expression should mean freedom from blasphemy," said Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade, the chairman of the 57-member Organization of the Islamic Conference. "There can be no freedom without limits."
Yes, and there can be no peace with Islam. Take a hike, pal, and bring on the lawyers.

My favorite paragraphs from the article are these.
Just goes to show that freedom of speech makes some strange bedfellows, eh David?'Defame Islam...'
Everyone must remember the notorious remark made by Churchill about an unsavory, opposition MP:
"He brought buggery into disrepute".
Bernard,
Don't let Cait catch you saying things like that.
[Note: The above is intended humourously.]
''I don't think freedom of expression should mean freedom from blasphemy,"
The term blasphemy should be consigned to the dustbin of history.
It is a patent nonsense akin to 'he insulted my imaginary friend.'
David your slipping (or just been busy) I refered to this story at 1:50am gmt on the islam wants to talk post.
On my blog I added to the story by saying. Before they worry about suing others, they may want to think about stopping those that self explode killing woman and children in the name of their child molesting profit.
Blasphemy is a victimless crime. This applies to all sky-gods, since none of them exist and all of their followers are deluded by fake promises of an after-life.
""I don't think freedom of expression should mean freedom from blasphemy," said Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade"
Quite right. It doesn't.
Alan,
"The International Humanist and Ethical Union ...
Human Rights Watch..."
"Just goes to show that freedom of speech makes some strange bedfellows, eh David?"
Why so, strange? Did you not notice the word "human" in the titles of both organizations? As opposed to "divine" or other such aberration.
Mama,
I loved your Freudian slip in the final words of your 10.57 post :0)
Dawkins,
The "strangeness" lies in David's disdain for those organizations, not in themselves. I was just noting that they are on the right (not to be confused with Right) side of the freedom of speech issue. I have always known that, but it needs extra attention on ATW.
Alan,
Sorry. My arrows were aimed at the wrong target :0)

Indeed, and he also understood the nature of islam by remarking that it "is more dangerous in a man than rabies in a dog".
Is it not blasphemy for the Muslims to refer to Jesus as a prophet and not accord Him the honour of being God made Man ?
Can someone recommend a good lawyer .
