THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

EVEN IN THE MIDST OF LIFE...

St Augustine's Church, Londonderry by Strabanephotos.

Have been away at a funeral all day. It was a touching service in a wonderful old church - St Augustine's - the only church built into the walls of Londonderry. It has such a picturesque location and whilst small on the inside it is steeped in history. Of course funerals are never the easiest things to attend  but I enjoy the time out from the daily race of life to reflect on the truths of the eternal.

Beautiful church. Are the clouds typical of July weather?

Having walked the walls of Derry many times I don't remember seeing this church DV, it looks a nice old building. Where exactly is it and what denomination is it?

St Augustine's is Church of Ireland . It's situated ON the walls nr Bishop's Gate. There is a little history of the Church here.

It is written by the man whose funeral I attended. Ironic.

Thanks yes I do remember it now. There's also an Orange Hall on part of the walls overlooking the Bogside area, not sure if it's still in use. It seems the history of that church is integral to the history of the city, especially it's use by Presbyterians during the siege, and not forgetting that it was originally a catholic church!

Where would the congregation come from, the Fountain estate or from all over the city?

All over - I think. It's a truly beautiful building inside well worth a few moments if you get the chance. A relatively undiscovered gem.
