THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

Grizzly Mama Self-Introduction

I will start by thanking David for inviting me to contribute to ATW.  I found ATW way, way back via Iraq the Model.  I was shocked and gratified to see not only pro-America opinion, but also conservative viewpoints similar to my own.  I was very interested to hear about politics in Northern Ireland because the last I'd heard, Bill Clinton had effected a lasting peace, the IRA had laid down its arms in response to 9/11, and all was hunky-dorey.  Obviously I had some learnin' to do.  Not only for Northern Ireland but for all of Europe.  I will admit that beyond the knowledge that the French were uppity surrender monkeys - there wasn't much more to know!  ATW has been a part of expanding my horizon and I appreciate all of the voices who contribute both entries and comments.

As for me, I am a married (to Troll!) mother of 2 daughters now aged 7 and 11.  I have been homeschooling them both from the get go.  I did not go into this motherhood thing intending to homeschool. In fact it was the very last option that I explored.  When it came time to start the older in school, all I knew was that she wasn't going into the local government school system.  Since then I have become quite militant about the issue.  I despise public education, I despise the teachers unions, and I'm horrified at what the public education system is doing to our children.

I am in my mid 40's, was born and raised in Denver, Colorado with 7 brothers and sisters.  Catholic - obviously!  I spent lots of time in the mountains.  I am a veteran of the armed services - joined at the age of 17 to get away from home and it is an experience that has shaped me in different ways. I was an Operating Room Tech and hated every minute of it, but looking back I know that it was an important and positive experience for me.

I am conservative and mostly vote Republican.  I liked Ron Paul until he started hanging out with the skin-heads and 9/11 Troofers.  I'm backing Fred Thompson.

I will try to share my views as much as I am able.  We have moved out of the Philadelphia area into Lancaster County, and we are still trying to adjust.    It looks like I will be working full time soon - along with the schooling and hundreds of activities that the girls are involved in.  I will not be a prolific poster, but I will do what I can, when I can, to annoy you as much as possible!

Let me be the first to welcome you, Monica. As you know, even though I am a fellow American, I was born in Belfast so I have residual Euroweenie status.

Best of luck to ya!

Welcome! Go Monica and Troll - and go Fred! Since he seems to have woken up a bit. He's awesome. (and so are you.)

Hello then.

Thanks Patty! I loved seeing Fred go on that last debate especially since he really laid into Huckabee. I am noticing that a lot of homeschoolers are backing Huckabee and I will be researching that over the next couple of nights. He seems like the MOST unlikely GOP candidate for homeschoolers. I don't think that it is over for Fred yet, not yet. Perhaps it's wishful thinking? lol.

Time to fold laundry and get the girlies set for bed.

Welcome Monica (much nicer name than Grizzly Momma).
And interesting background. Stands to your credit that you hated army life! :)

"He seems like the MOST unlikely GOP candidate for homeschoolers."

Not really - behind bullying, a wish to give children a religious education is the second-most popular reason given for homeschooling. I should imagine that in communities with large numbers of Evangelist parents exercising that option Huckabee would be the most popular candidate in duality with his own religious bent.

Welcome to ATW!

Welcome Monica

I look forward to your posts. I'm sure they will more than match any of the others which have generated heated debates.

Welcome Monica. Nice job.

Thanks y'all! Thompson's my man, Huckabee's not good for homeschoolers even if he does play up the evangelical thing - his record as governor will show his position on homeschooling, even if he is flopping like a dying fish now.
