HIS NAME WAS BENNY...
Friday, November 6, 2009 at 08:30AM I see that the dismal political correctness narrative has claimed another victim this time in the somewhat unlikely shape of deceased UK comedian Benny Hill.
It seems that Benny was to appear on a set of stamps issued by the Mail but that a decision was taken to axe him because of concerns about his saucy style. Royal Mail deemed that his jokes were 'in direct opposition to the company's policies on harassment in the work place'.
How pathetic is that? Benny Hill was a funny man of his time and so I play tribute to him with this musical gem from the 1970's!

Superb, David. I still play this song for my kids.
Typical of the Royal Mail to throw a Benny over this fitting tribute.
Benny made a brilliant collection of songs on an LP including Sue and her Mum, Ain't you glad your a member of the Human Race? and The old Violin.
My brother had the LP, I just wish I could find it on a CD!
Sometimes you can't help but feel that those who appear to be advocates of politically correct policies are really seeking to undermine it with nonsensical decisions like this.

Um... have they never meet the husband of the person on almost all of their stamps?
LOL, Seamus!
'almost all of their stamps' ?
Do the Royal Mail produce any stamps without HM's head on them ?
Colm,
As the King of Smut, Benny must surely be one of your heroes? - and he was also very good at the double entendre.. I bet you even have his pic on your bedroom wall!...:-)
Re the stamps, the 1st class stamps used to be 'headless', can't be sure as it is years since I last bought a stamp.
