glasgow airport attack
Stephen Clarkson told the BBC he saw people panicking and running after a Cherokee jeep crashed into the airport. He saw an Asian man lying on the ground with "flames coming from his body".
"It was just lucky that I was there, I managed to knock the man to the ground with my forearm and the police got on top of him and restrained him."
To borrow a sentiment from the inimitable Rick Blaine: there are certain sections of Glasgow, gentlemen, that I wouldn't advise you to try to attack

Cant Deny, Makes Me Feel More Than A Bit Smug
Looks like the public are no longer buying the product certain people peddle with all the desperation of a horny terrier...oh dear oh dear oh dear.
MICKEY MOUSE BEATEN TO DEATH.....
Pity Farfur, the Palestinian version of "Micky Mouse" who has been killed off - beaten to death by an "Israeli agent"!
"Farfur was martyred defending his land," said the show's presenter Saraa. Israeli critics had said the show was outrageous and some Palestinian ministers tried to get it shelved. In the final broadcast an actor said to be an Israeli agent tries to buy the land of the squeaky-voiced Mickey Mouse lookalike. Farfur brands the Israeli a "terrorist" and is beaten to death. He was killed "by the killers of children", Saraa says.
Ah well, all's well that ends well. Is there a more sick society than Pali-land? Wonder what will replace Farfur the Mouse, maybe Adolf the Dog?
STAND TOGETHER...
I have been away all day and am just catching up on the latest news concerning the terror attack on Glasgow Airport in Scotland. My thanks to Alison for covering this story. Seems like the ROP has been very busy, little wonder that PM Gordon Brown declares the situation "critical" and urges the Nation to stand together.
Well, I have a few things to say on this.
1. Once more, we are reminded that just because many in the UK prefer to deny that militant Islam is at WAR with us does not change that fundamental reality. And it's not JUST us in the UK that face this threat, a significant section within Islam is at war with all of us who will not submit to it. The only sensible response is to repeat an expression familiar to those of us who live in Northern Ireland - No Surrender.
2. Regrettably I see little sign of unity of purpose amongst the UK population. Encouraged by the MSM, the general mood is one of appeasement and even denial that we are even in the middle of the war on terror. Get out of Iraq, run away from Afghanistan, leave Iran alone, be nice to Hamas, turn a blind eye to the activities of our indigenous Islamic fanatics....so goes the defeatist drumbeat. And it encourages the Jihad boys. We need to be sending them a different message - namely that we will never submit to them and that we place a high value on our liberty.
3. At times like this, we do need to bare our teeth, and show Islam that we are the strong horse. Be it Glasgow, London, New York, Bali, Madrid - militant Islam seeks to KILL us. It seems to gain our submission through terrorising us. Well, let's all stand together and tell Islam to take a hike, all the way to paradise.
evil purpose
Yesterdays nightclub plots 'coincided' with Mr Justice Astill jailing for life the terror cell that plotted to blow up the Ministry of Sound ("dancing slags") nightclub and Bluewater shopping centre. Khyam, Waheed Mahmood, Garcia, Akmed and Amin refused to enter court to be sentenced for life with no parole for at least 20 years.
Times reports that 'The conspiracy that led to a jury deliberating for 27 days, the longest in British criminal trial history, had started in November 2003, with the purchase of the ammonium nitrate fertiliser that was central to the plot - reported by one baffled John Stone, a salesman. It was winter, thought Mr Stone, and the order was enough to cover five football pitches. “What do you want all that for?” he asked. “Are you planning a bomb attack?”
A week after their arrests, Mohammed Babar, an American al-Qaeda operative who trained with Khyam in Pakistan, was arrested in New York. The intelligence service compiled a huge list of friends, relatives and contacts, many with multiple identities"
Khyam had spoken with “enthusiasm and pleasure of the slaughter of nonbelievers”, the judge said. “You took full advantage of the benefits free society had to offer. You exploited the freedoms you sought to destroy with such evil purpose. You betrayed the country that’s given you every advantage in life".
Terrorism is always and only ever about 'dodging a bullit' - but public vigilance plays its part in operations, always has and always will.
Update: Car on Fire Crashes into Airport 'Two Asian males' one of whom was 'on fire' jump from a burning Cherokee jeep, driven at Glasgow airport terminal building. A member of the public 'jumped on one of the guys and wrestled him onto the ground' as he tried to get away from the car, police officers have both guys. Reports from eye witnesses of gas cylinders taken out of the car by one of the drivers and some casualties...but hard to say, its all very confusing at the moment. Id just switched on the news and checked ATW.
Right. In reference to yesterdays post. It doesnt make me some kind of a cheese eating surrender monkey to feel pride in the people out there dealing with the current situations and with the usual sort of pragmatic British reaction to it. There is plenty of bravery on show. Good to see. But, to me, yesterday and today trying to keep some perspective is the right approach to the ongoing terrorist actions. Challenging this ideology we all differ on to a degree, and do on a damn near regular basis in our own ways. In Glasgow, they are in custody. No apparent casualties. Great! The MSM are doing a grand enough job of dialing up Islamist egos and i dont feel like adding to it. Besides, there is plenty of justifiable anger out there. Eye witnesses reported 'anger', and when questioned if he meant towards the way the evacuation was handled, the guy replied that the police had to stop men trying to get to the driver of the car' 'it would have been the end of him'. It isnt an opportunity to beat on the UK. Not now. (Good to see people drinking pints at the airport though!)
UPHOLDING THE MASK OF ISLAM
UK institutional submission to Islam draws closer with the news that a magistrate faces legal prosecution after he walked out in protest after a women appeared wearing a Niqab in his court. Magistrate Ian Murray pulled out of the hearing when Zoobia Hussain appeared in a niqab, which covers the head and the face apart from the eyes.
Hussain, 32, believed to be a mother of five, appeared for what was due to be a brief administrative hearing this week before bench chairman Mr Murray and two colleagues at Manchester Magistrates Court. She denies causing £5,000 worth of criminal damage including graffiti to a housing association property from which she had been evicted. Her solicitor, Judith Hawkins, said Hussain wanted to appear in the dock in the niqab because she "observed the Muslim religion and remains covered in public places when men are present".
Mr Murray then stunned those in court by saying he was withdrawing from the case because she was wearing a niqab, adding: "I do not feel I have to give any reasons. This is my personal view."
Hussain, from the Crumpsall district of Manchester, told her solicitor his walkout was "scandalous". She added: "There is a human being under here."
Yes, I don't doubt that, and one that stands indicted of serious criminal charges and who must be made to show her face and be stripped off the sickening mask of Islam. This country is not Islamic and should not tolerate this contrived effort by Islamic activists to advance the acceptance of the ROP. The magistrate should not have walked out however, had it been me I would have had Hussein thrown out, fined and forced to return dressed in a manner more appropriate for a British as opposed to a Pakistani Court.
Freedom Stubbed Out
For those of you who like a cigarette, enjoy your last day of freedom. At 6am tomorrow morning England becomes the last part of the United Kingdom to go 'smoke free' (an anodyne description for the abolition of a person's liberty to enjoy a perfectly legal product in an enclosed public place). Scotland abolished nicotine-related social liberty in 2006; Wales and Northern Ireland followed in April of this year. Most businesses already display the 'no smoking' signs in abundance, in readiness for the impending draconian diktat.
I started to think where this lunacy began. Did it start back in 1992 with the death of British entertainer Roy Castle? Castle, who had never smoked in his life, died from lung cancer. It was said that years of appearances in smoke-filled clubs had precipitated the condition. I don't suppose the media, increasingly reluctant to question anything outside of a narrow and narrowing PC remit, ever thought to list all the entertainers who have appeared in smoke-filled venues down the years and are still walking around very much alive. Oh well.....
I am not a smoker. However, I don't think there would have been anything wrong with having enclosed, separate smoking areas in pubs, etc. I think it is highly distasteful to see people who smoke condemned to standing outside. It might not be so bad in summer ('summer'? - now that's funny!!), but why should they huddle outside in freezing cold December nights for the enjoyment of a cigarette, like naughty schoolchildren? They don't have a compulsion for exposing themselves for goodness sake, they're puffing on a cigarette. Yes, a cigarette!!! Those tiny sticks whose purchase provides much of the funding for the NHS and swells government coffers year-in and year-out, you hypocritical b******s!!!
You can rest assured that an army of inspecting, pen-pushing jobsworths will have already been employed to police this nonsense. Will it get to the stage where having a fag indoors brings a harsher penalty than burglary? You may laugh, but who'd have thought ten years ago that the police would take a car driver doing 3mph over the speed limit more seriously than another car driver who'd had his pride and joy vandalised to the tune of £500? The smoking ban is a quintessential example of this government's approach to law and order: target the most law-abiding with stiff penalties and dictatorial edicts so that relatively minor transgressions can flood the crime-busting statistics. Meanwhile, spend less time dealing with serious offences, lest it offend some minority group, transgress someone's 'human rights', or entail the completion of 600 pages of pointless paperwork.
Extreme Reluctance to Offend
I love this article in an online American publication. Rudy Giuliani has promised American Jews that, if elected to the White House (please God!) in 2008, he will tackle the scourge of Islamic terrorism. Rightly comparing this wave of Muslim nutcases to the Nazis, he also pledged that Iran would not be allowed to threaten the existence of Israel with nuclear weapons.
Can you ever comprehend such candour from any mainstream British politician or media outlet? Here they are too busy creeping around the Muzzas for fear of causing offence. In the days of the Provo terror campaign there was no such reticence. The IRA were/are classed as 'terrorists' for that's exactly what they were/are. They had no mandate to do what they did; they always had a political alternative by which to argue the advance of their goals; they did not care if civilians were caught up in their carnage; they exercised power within their own communities through fear. They were/are, by every conceivable definition, 'terrorists'.
So why not apply that magic description where our niqab-sporting underlings of Allah are concerned? Following yesterday's attempted plot to blow hundreds of innocent Londoners to pieces through, not one but two, massive improvised car bombs, the BBC and ITV have been oh so careful to avoid the 'T' word. It could have been 'Islamic extremists'; it could have been 'Al Queda sympathisers'. Or, if you are the ultra-foul BBC (where having an Asian name is a dead cert to get you a prominent position within the news reading department), you don't really have a clue as to who the hell it could have been.
It is a reasonable assumption to conclude that ISLAMIC TERRORISTS were behind yesterday's foiled exercise. If calling them terrorists offends the bedsheet-wearing brigade who walk around the streets of our cities determined never to integrate into our society then frankly, my dears, I don't give a damn.
By the way, I have included a little film that shows what London went through during the blitz. I hope it gives our overseas readers some understanding as to why this country will never cower before these Islamic terrorists, just as we never cowered before the IRA or the Luftwaffe.

Please note that Saturday's Marx quotes have been discontinued due to the simple fact I can no longer find any new quotes attributed to the great Groucho.
A little thought on The Value of Mockery
St Thomas More left us many great things, not least of which his witticism on being taken up to be executed: "See me safe up: for my coming down, I can shift for myself". But a comment on my post of an Al-Jihadi TV mockery got me thinking of another quotation of St. Thomas More:
"The devil...the prowde spirite...cannot endure to be mocked."
I think that whatever we think about the 'religion' of Islam, we can all agree that the idea of bombing and mutilating, capturing and murdering civilians, is purely diabolic.
Those Wacky Newscasters
I thought this might be topical and amusing. Enjoy it.

FRIDAY LATE NIGHT COMEDY!
GORDON BROWN AND THE SPICE GIRLS?
Is it COINCIDENCE that the Spice Girls (Baby, Posh, Ginger, Sport and erm..Scary) have announced they are making a comeback the same day as Gordon Brown announces his new cabinet, several members of which are ALSO making a comeback? (Not that the media want to talk about the recycled Cabinet Ministers in their Gordie-euphoria) I think not! It seems to me that Brown must be a major Spice Girls fan. After all, he has been a "Wannabe" Prime Minister for more years than the Spice Girls have been, um, spicy. He and Blair were very much "Two become one" and now that Princess Tony has said "Goodbye", it's "Viva Forever" Gordon! Yet should PM Brown ask us "Tell me what you want, what you really really want" the answer is - not you, your miserable dour caledonian clown. Forget Zig-a-Zig ah!
PS. Has Baby been eating the Pies or is she about to have a baby?
No New Money For Flood Defences Until 2011
For once I am linking to the Guardian. That headline is not made up. Communities in Yorkshire are still underwater after more than three days and this can happen again if we get another spell of bad weather. I dont give a crap whether this is caused by Global Warming or just freak weather such as we have experienced before - but if this Government, flush with cash and able to provide the underclass with all the booze they can drink, all the Playstations they can zone in front of and all the social workers they can stomach, cant find money for this, what the hell are we bothering to pay a penny of our extortionate taxes for?
EU'VE GOT MERCURY POISONING!
Let's see if I have got this one right.
The European Parliament has BANNED the small amount of mercury used in barometers, with which I guess we are all familiar. Meanwhile, the European Parliament PROMOTES the use of millions of long-life bulbs which contain....mercury! Since the greater likelihood is that bulbs will get broken more than barometers (Have you EVER broken a barometer? Have you ever broken a bulb?) isn't this an environmentally hazardous position adopted by the Eurocrats? Or maybe they actually do want to poison us all!!
A superficial, unprincipled, moral weakling
A quote from Conservative Home, regarding public attitudes to David Cameron:
"A Populus poll for today's Daily Politics programme on BBC1...found that 48% agreed that Mr Cameron was "superficial and lacks any clear convictions". 40% disagreed. 36% said Mr Cameron had the "strength and judgment to be a good prime minister". 49% said he did not. 54% agreed that it was "no longer clear what the Conservative Party stands for". 36% disagreed."
Looks like the public has the measure of the man.
ATW EXCLUSIVE - UK INDEPENDENCE PARTY LEADER NIGEL FARAGE
Firstly, I wanted to sincerely thank ATW contributor DSD for gaining an exclusive interview for ATW READERS with Nigel Farage - leader of the UKIP. Because of my current pc problems, I'm going to post this early on next week to ensure maximum traffic gets to listen to what Nigel has to say to the questions YOU posed. I also want to publicly thank Nigel Farage for having the guts to give such an interview - and I hope you will giving it a listen next week.
HARD CHEESE IF YOU LIKE CHEESE!
Do you like cheese? I do - I love the so many different varieties of this fine food, and have a particular liking for..gasp..French cheeses! (And the fine French wine that best accompanies these!) But guess what? My love of cheese is endangering the Planet apparently, and along with most meats, I'm going to have to give it up - should I choose to listen to Ruth Fairchild from the University of Wales. She reckons that there is a lot of energy used to produce cheese along with feeding most forms of livestock and this is maximising our environmental footprint. It seems though that whilst we will lose cheese and most meats, we keep lentils, eggs, milk veggies and bread. Back to the Stone Age then - and au revoir my beloved Brie!
