What is to be made of the news that Police sniffer dogs will have to wear bootees when searching the homes of Muslims so as not to cause offence?
Guidelines being drawn up by the liberal Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) urge awareness of religious sensitivities when using dogs to search for drugs and explosives. The guidelines, to be published this year, were designed to cover mosques but have been extended to include other buildings.
Where Muslims object, officers will be obliged to use sniffer dogs only in exceptional cases. Where dogs are used, they will have to wear bootees with rubber soles.
“We are trying to ensure that police forces are aware of sensitivities that people can have with the dogs to make sure they are not going against any religious or cultural element within people’s homes. It is being addressed and forces are working towards doing it,” Acpo said.
Problems faced by the use of sniffer dogs were highlighted last week when Tayside police were forced to apologise for a crime prevention poster featuring a german shepherd puppy, in response to a complaint by a Muslim councillor.

George that lady caller obviously does not speak from personal experience. I have an Aunt, Irish like myself, who met and married an Iranian 30 years ago. She worked in Iran as a doctor for 15 years, loved it, shes teetotal so the sauce wasn't a problem. She only had to wear a scarve over her hair whilst working. Her daughter, my cousin has since chosen to remain in Tehran and has a family there, yet she visits Ireland every 2 years freely and willfully goes back to Iran. I hate the way the western govts present countries they disagree with, which allow such idiots to form such prejudiced views.

Lives. In this instance undermining terrorism and avoiding issues like the dog poster etc being thrown at the police in the process. It sucks but then they are dealing with a people who dont like dogs pigs or women - or rather who cannot make their minds up about dogs (one week the police are insensitive now they overly cautious..two muslim opinions weve had on dogs this week and they dont match, see Times article).
This is the sort of crap that results from what Colm called an innocuous remark by the muslim councillor last week on the dog poster. Heh.
Screw those whiney muslims and their ignorant dog fetish. The police shouldn't take special precautions to accommodate these people. Matter of fact, they ought to train some sniffer pigs - they have a much better sense of smell than dogs.

The position "If you don't like it here, then go elsewhere" is a perfectly honorable one.
Islam is more than just a religion, it's a way of life and it's open aim is world domination.

I will choose to believe what you say about your aunt.
But you deny that Iran is an extremely oppressive regime towards many minority religious groups? Including its remaining Jews and Bahais?
I know a woman who has ( Jewish ) family in Iran, so please be careful in telling me how wonderful it is over there.
A phobia is defined as an 'unrealistic or irrational' fear of something.
There is nothing Islamaphobic about me. My fear of this so-called 'religion' is based on the very real and, from their point of view, rational damage they have done to this and every non-Muslim country where their poisonous presence has accumulated in great numbers.

No RS, it's called being snarky. I hate all whiney special interest groups - muslims don't deserve special treatment in the West and these complaining twats deserve to have heaping cups of scorn dumped on their precious heads for making the police go to extra measures not to offend their ridiculous sensibilities.
