THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

Never On a Sunday

I was on youtube this morning to see if I could find Peggy Lee, or some other female vocalist singing Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” and I stumbled upon this wonderful Greek singer/actress: Melina Merkoyria.  Smoking and singing, dancing and swooning, this woman is wonderful:

“When it gets dark it scatters me to song…”

Patty,

If I am not mistaken that is Melina Mercouri, star of ' Never on a Sunday', and the title of that song, - a film about hookers in the port of Pireus, and it was a big international hit.

She too, was a feisty lady, and later on she went into Greek politics, and, as I recall became an member of their parliament, - all round about the time of the Greek colonels coup...

That tune certainly brings back a few memories...

All I know about her is that she campaigned firecely and unsuccesfully for the return of the Elgin Marbles to Greece from the British Museum.

Ernest, I'm going to see if I can find the movie, Never on a Sunday, on Netflix. Have you seen it? I find her intriquing. (there are other scenes from the movie on youtube)

That's interesting Colm. And Colm, don't go getting the idea that I have a girl crush! or something.... I just find her whole gestalt as a singer/dancer/actress intriquing

Yes, she was the Minister for Culture.

I had the pleasure of sitting next to her at a performance of a so-called Greek tragedy, which was in fact, a comedy, at an ancient open air theatre in southern Greece. It was an original amphitheatre and the acoustics were incredible, - a pin dropped on-stage could literally be heard in the furthest seat, which, incidentally, were just plain blocks of stone, and as the play went on some hours, bums, even with cushions, became very numb....
