OBAMA'S MAGIC WORKING OUT WELL...
Monday, November 23, 2009 at 09:45AM
Following on from Obama's wildly successful visit to China and his regime's much more nuanced approach to dealing with North Korea, it looks like things are working out really well!
Chinese and North Korean defence chiefs have pledged to strengthen their long-standing military alliance. The Chinese Defence Minister, Liang Guanglie, is visiting North Korea two weeks before the US North Korea envoy, Stephen Bosworth, is due to visit.
So, the tyrants from Beijing seek to support the lunatic in Pyongyang. Good result for Obama?
Send in Team America - oh yeah!

I am unwilling to abandon my sense of fair play to President Obama, but it's getting a little bit battered by recent events....

Obama has been trying to do everything, all at once, tomorrow morning, and as a result he may wind up accomplishing nothing. I think that David Brooks wrote something along these lines in January or February.
He hasn't been very focused. Ambition means nothing, without focus.
And this latest development of a connection between China and North Korea of course just began in January of 2009. If only Truman had let Doug MacCarther attack Luxembourg during the Korean War!
I agree with david Brook's (and Phantom's) criticism- it is fair.
But it is also fair to point out, that Bush left a mulititude of messes behind- yes a multitude. How could you possibly prioritise?
The Obama Administration will soon be able to divert attention from their failed foreign and domestic policies with the upcoming show trial of the terrorists in New York.
The Obama Administration - and the power hungry rabid Left who hate AmeriKKKa - will put the Bush Administration on trial....mark my words. The Left will milk their faux outrage over "CIA torture" and "injustice" until 2012.
Meanwhile, we turn our backs on aliies, bow down to tyrants, sell our children's future to China, and pretend that by socializing 1/6th of the economy we will save money and enjoy state-of-the-art healthcare.
It is a travesty and one the Left applauds.
You can always prioritize.
The economy/jobs , Iraq, Afghanistan would have been three good first priorities
Other items such as Health Care, as important as they are ( and unlike some here I see Health Care reform as necessary and doable) are not as important as restoring the economy to health and to ending two wars.

The record shows that there was a big increase in debt to China ( and moving jobs to China ) under GW Bush. Let's say it like it is.
Obama may deserve lots of criticism, but GW Bush should be mentioned each and every time, because this stuff did for the most part happen on his watch - the near meltdown, the beginning of the stimulus, the investments in private companies - all of it. Lets get real.
Phantom: THe Democrat majority and the Obama Adminstration have TRIPLED the deficit, and DOUBLED the unemployment rate!
The Democrats and the Obama Administrations need to man-up and stop blaming "daddy Bush"
They need to take more blame but the fact is that this began under GW and the world economy came very close to crashing and that doesn't happen every day.
They didn't double the unemployment rate either
Phantom: I think unemployment was around 4.5% when the Democrats won the Congressional majority - and 6.5 % when the Obama Administration came into office?
Now, unemployment is 10.2 - 10.3%?
Look, the Republicans spent like drunken sailors, and Bush pushed Tarp l (in fact, I blame him for opening the flood gates for Tarp ll and the Pelosi/Reid/Obama "stimulus" mistake - I do not excuse the Repubs. or Bush.
The Democrat Majority and the Obama Administration however are much, much worse -- and guess what, they are the present and the future. Bush and Co. is in the past.
Blaming Bush is a political tactic by the Dems to avoid accountability.
You don't start the clock from when they got the Congress.
The more proper comparison is GW Bush and Obama ( neither who were known for vetoing spending bills )
Though all comparisons are inexact as power is shared between the President and the two houses of Congress
Phantom, just because the market bubble burst didn't mean the world was going to "crash" - that's a lot of political bull ginned up to fool you, and others, so we go along and accept "bailouts" and "stimulus."
Our govt. made the whole economy a lot worse by meddling, by stirring up panic, by spending money we don't have - by sweet heart deals with banks that should have been put out of business etc. Free markets are not pain free - but they work. Unlike central command economies.
If you're learning your economics from the New York Times (an economically unsustainable paper, btw) -- you are not learning economics so much as Democrat talking points to justify big government spending.

Would you say that the Economist news magazine is a good source of business and economic information?
