THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

OPPORTUNISTIC PARASITES..

I do understand of course that the Northern Ireland government has an extensive and very well-funded PR department and a plethora of empty-headed media whores prepared to swallow everything which comes their way from this coterie but I have to say that even I was a little shocked at the sheer cynicism of this little piece...

"The newly restored Stormont Executive claimed its first success on the economic front yesterday with the opening of a new £9m chemical plant which is creating 30 new jobs in Belfast. First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness were on hand to jointly perform the ceremony in the Harbour Estate. The event came just hours before the Executive resumed for business, 154 days after its last meeting, and was designed to send out a clear message that Mr Robinson and Mr McGuinness are making the economy a priority."

So, if I understand this right, this chemical plant would NOT have opened if the DUP and IRA had not cut a deal the other day? Yeah, right! Listen up, Robinson the vain and his IRA godfather pal McGuinness may once again back in business but the sight of these two clowns claiming credit for things for which they have have had NO direct input is obscene. They are opportunistic parasites, the scum of the earth, two vile repulsive slugs feeding off the hard endeavours of others - in this case the management behind this chemical plant.

The sheer cynicism of this (almost) beggars belief. They must take us for fools.

They do take us for fools, Peter. I take them for parasites.

David, have to agree with you here.. it is cynical politics at its worst.

I detest our situation with these numbskulls.

"Also today "up to 95 jobs could go at a County Down aerospace firm".

Life's too short for this depth of hatred surely?

That silly supplement that was in last Saturdays Newsletter!
Its a dialect not a language, i know decent people like George Patton and Billy Kennedy and others including the Orange Order have run with this, why i dont know? I suppose as retaliation to the Irish Language brigade? While money is being spent on this , the "Friends of the Union" founded by Sir John Biggs Davison and Ian Gow, and which brought together politicians , academics, business people and ordinary Unionists and was a forum for all good things about Ulster has folded because it couldnt find a sponsor?
Its contribution tom Unionism was just as important , as a stall at some hillbilly convention!

""Also today "up to 95 jobs could go at a County Down aerospace firm"."

If we are being honest though, those job cuts are not down to the Recession. The Aircraft Industry works three years in arrears, so Aircraft being built today are being sold in three years time. Those aircraft built today are being sold in 2011, and even the most grim outlooks have the world out of the Recession long before 2011.

Scouseproud,

I agree.

"and even the most grim outlooks have the world out of the Recession long before 2011."

I know you are employed in the aircraft industry, and are hopeful of having a future in that industry, but nowhere, and no-one has suggested that the recession will be over by 2011. Haven't Aerobus and Boeing, already announced cut-backs?

Not only is this potentially the worst recession since records began, it will take as long, if not longer for stability to return than any previously experienced.

I take no pleasure in saying that, but we have to be a bit pragmatic about the future, there is still much unpleasant news to be revealed, and a few banks going bust are the least of it.

Gosh,

It would be a fair exchange. The Provos get policing, something Bob and I were saying 10 years ago.

Pinky

Yeah - saw it and it depressed me so much I couldn't get a hook on it.

something Bob and I were saying 10 years ago.

What ten years ago you both predicted that this would happen? An army council with no powers or ammo in exchange for policing ??? The very idea would have sent unionists dancing about as if they'd itching powder in their drawers.

Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:14PM | Unregistered CommenterGosh!

Besides I'm not saying what I read is absolutely definite.....it may not.

Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:16PM | Unregistered CommenterGosh!

Depressing indeed.

The recession when it comes will, however, be global. The US may manage to come out of it in a stronger position vis-a-vis the rest of the world.
Also, before anything like what's predicted in the CIA report happens, Europe and the US will finally move closer together again.
There could well be a very close relationship, even some form of confederation, before 2025.

Ten years ago Bob and I said the Provo aim was to get their manky hands on the forces of law and parade, we were derided. Who was right?

I think China will come out strongest economically, and an eastern economic bloc will form, led by China. In fact,I think that currently, China is probably in the best position of all major economies, despite their many problems with regulation etc. China has the available cash to inject into its own economy, through huge infrastrucure/ modernisation projects, during the world recession.Through their own infrastucture projects, the rest will plunge into trillions of dollars more debt to stave of the worst effects of the world recession.

I agree with you Noel, that the Western nations will form stronger bonds, politically and economically. I think that we will see that in begin in earnest, now that the US has amore 'internationalist friendly ' regime about to take office.

Predictions are fine, but the truth is that nobody knows where we will be in five years, never mind twenty-five.

In November 2005 (say) who could have predicted what we have seen in the last 18 months? So who can predict what things will be like in November 2011?
