THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

OPRAH AND PALIN...

Well now, it looks like Oprah has got herself a problem. It's being said that she does not want Sarah Palin to appear on her TV show. However Palin has just become the most talked about female politician in the US, if not the world. She IS news, regardless of whether one supports her or not. Her impact on US politics has been spectacular and she seems to speak to and for a lot of women. But not for Obama supporting Oprah, obviously.  As the ever observant Thomas Lifson points out..

If Oprah snubs Sarah, she will suffer enormous consequences. Her dilemma is that if she has Sarah on and lets her talk, her guy Obama will lose votes. And if she tries to put Sarah on the spot, she could lose fans in droves.

He is right. Oprah is clearly partisan but it's all about how she projects this and the impact on her audience and her sponsors. Sarah Palin presents a major problem for so many on the left, and even the blessed Oprah is going to have to be careful that she is not rolled over as the Palin phenonomen continues..

Perhaps Palin is too trashy for the Winfrey sofa. You know how these multi-millionaire Leftists are, full of class.

She's still on the air???

If Palin refused to go on because the show is crap then I would vote for her and McCain.

Oprah is getting her ass handed to her on the show's blog!

Funniest line.........."Doubt that she could make it after the campaign is over. She'll be too busy being VP."

Daphne, your right Oprah's fans are ripping her a new one. I read all 12 pages of posts. Those women are as mad and frustrated as a hare-lip at a hog calling contest.

I presume Jerry Springer's offer is still open.

Who's Oprah? Never seen the show, never will.

But I guess it's her call. Can't see Bill O'Reilly wanting Biden on his show on Fox.

Peter,

He's had Obama, so why not Biden?

Peter, Oprah Winfrey has a TV show the women love. She's black, was born in a shack in Tennesee, and is now the richest woman, I think, in America. She supports Obama.

So what? It's a free world and surely Oprah embodies the American dream.

Bill O'Reilly and the rest of the gang at Fox are openly supporting McCain, despite the "fair and balanced" bullshit. I don't hear any complaints about that from Rightworld.

Wow, she is really having a new one systematically ripped by those commenters, thanks for the link Daphne.

And the statement is such utter transparent BS that it must make even the most ardent Obama suppirter blush.

Here's a good example:

"How disappointing. Oprah, you have shown your partisan stripes. Even conservative talk radio invites on the "other side" to get opposing viewpoints.

In my view you have lost all credibility. You must be afraid of giving her airtime. If Senator Obama's stature is so shaky that shutting down open discussion is the only way that you can promote your candidate, then you've convinced me. I'm going to look more seriously at McCain-Palin . And I'm done with your show, your opinion, your magazine and any interest in you. You are a fraud."

Peter, but Bill O had on Obama! Fair and balanced.

Guess you can't take the shack out of the girl!

Great comment. I think we all know where you're coming from now.

Peter, you left out tax and spenders, but good description!

Well said. I also left out the gender-benders and pot smokers. Obviously, nobody in Rightworld could belong to either.

Apart from the pot smoking closet gay Republicans. (No, you won't see them on Fox).

Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 12:40AM | Unregistered CommenterPeter

Peter,

You do see them on Fox. You just don't know that they're gay, or that they smoke pot. They're closeted, after all, not cloistered.

I mentioned the issue to my wife, who doesn't follow politics as closely as I do. Her opinion was that of course Oprah won't have her as a guest, because Oprah knows Palin would appeal to her key demographics and thus an appearance would hurt Obama.

I defended Oprah, saying she was standing on principle, and had not allowed Obama on either since he announced his candidacy. My wife said, "She's done everything short of blowing him in public. I don't believe her and neither will the fans."

For the record pot smoking in the closet can increase chances for lung disease and burning down one's house. Which is why I prefer the back porch.

Oprah had Obama on so of course she arranged a fake demarcation line to not have on Palin, who might actually impress some in her audience, and come across as genuine. If Palin was a Democrat with Democratic political postions Oprah would have her on weekly.
