OVER HERE - THE TRIPLE STANDARD - BACK IN BLACK
If the American Right Wing sees any silver lining in Senator Obama's candidacy, it would likely be how much he pisses off Jesse Jackson. Jackson is a street hustler who's ridden the racial roller coaster for a lifetime and despite his offensive rhetoric (New York is Hymie Town) and corporate shakedowns (his organization gets paid off not to protest) he is labled as a civil rights leader and healer. Baloney.
The most recent round involves him stating he wanted to cut off Obama's nuts. Talk about an unkind cut. Now it appears that in the same incident he stated that Obama was talking down to black people. Instead, he didn't say black people, he said the n word*. Jesse famously has sought media attention by calling for rappers and entertainment folks not to use it, has called for the boycott of the Seinfeld Show DVD's after comedian Michael Richards used it, and has utilized every opportunity to make waves over its use. How rich.
Jackson won't suffer the loss of one supporter as a result of this, and he knows it. He's crossed the line so many times, he doesn't just enjoy a double standard, it is a triple standard. Jackson's real anger stems from the fact that his type of race hustling is being pushed aside. A joy to watch him fade away.
*As a courtesy I'd ask any comments on this thread to refer to it as the n word. I won't censor you but it is a charged revolting word and I'd prefer it not be used. My thanks in advance.

I love to see most any politician get their come-uppance. Jesse Jackson is a fraud. I don't think that he was ALWAYS a fraud, though. At one time, way way back, he was okay.
This has been a very enjoyable primary season - watching all of the whackos get toasted. The Hildebeast was a joy to watch...
"At one time, way way back, he [Jesse] was okay."
Yea, Monica.
But then again way way back so was O.J. Simpson!
jackson wants to rip Obama's nuts off, but he must be informed that someone has beat him to it.
As to the n word, it's OK to use it if you're black, right?
Eddie
LOL!
Charles - I don't think so, and most serious black people don't think so, but it has made a hideous comeback due the the rap culture. I would suggest any derogative term for a group is generally less offensive when used by the group itself - especially if it is to devalue the word with humor (I refer to myself as a papist and a plastic paddy sometimes).
True Mahons, most educated blacks don't like the word.
However, the way you SAY it indicates the way the word is meant.
Your admonition of typing said word that can't be named will be respected by me, but ending it in an "a" makes it acceptable jive to some in their community..
I've been watching a highly acclaimed TV show - The Wire - which features the word virtually every minute (uttered by black characters but written mainly by white people) and I dont think it has received any criticism.
I suppose it depends on context. Jackson's stated opinions always struck me as opportunistic however.
Black comedians make millions of dollars with the word. Try repeating the joke at work!
Andy - The Wire is a realistic account of the Baltimore drug trade, it would be unrealistic of them not to pepper the language that way. Good show by the way.
Yes Charles and they use MF too, doesn't mean it is fit for civil discourse.
There seems to be rather too many 'words' which we can't use any more lest they be deemed offensive by the race-baiting industry. The word 'sunshine' was used by an Australian in a discussion with professional blackman, Darcus Howe. He makes his living fromthe colour of his skin because he's a crap journalist who would be nothing if he were white. Anyway, the Aussie was sacked.
The funny thing about this story is Jackson's complete hypocrisy - he went after Imus recently for saying "ho" and led a coalition of bigwigs at a burying the N word ceremony.
He's a fat old fraud who's afraid of losing power to the upstart Obama. Time to retire Jesse!
I was listening to our local talk radio station in the car this morning and this was a major topic of discussion. My 9 year old in the back seat piped up during a commercial, "Mamma, what is the N word? They keep talking about it, but I don't know what it is." So I got to have that fun discussion today, both kids were amazed that they were special "ugly" words for people based on skin color.
