THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

Remembrance Sunday

We should never forget those who serve, but Remembrance Sunday is a good day to focus those thoughts.

An original piece of work here from a friend of this blog, the G.O.T.

It's a thoughtful video, but personally I have to turn my speakers off, because I always hate such subject matter being set to a piece of yucky, sentimental music, no matter how good the intentions. It's like certain 9-11 videos on YouTube, where the audio is of some silly sentimental pop song, I just think "turn that bloody music OFF, there is no musical soundtrack appropriate to such subject matter". Silence is the only appropriate audio.
The same sort of logic applies, as to why I do NOT wear a Poppy during this week. These days it almost feels like you're being bullied into wearing it (the insinuation being that if you choose not to, then you must be, by definition, some sort of "conshie b*****d"). Well, I prefer the "When you give alms, let your left hand not know what your right hand is doing" approach, and thus I feel no need to advertise my almsgiving by the wearing of a visible symbol.
Indeed, I bet Gordon Brown and the rest of his crummy socialist military-hating Cabinet will have the sheer affrontery to wear the Poppy this week! As if to indicate that they actually support our miltary!!! Their poppies ought to be ripped from their Savile Row lapels, and replaced with white feathers.

I can not watch watch what happened on 9/11. Knowing that a lot innocent people are getting killed. I think it should be banned. It only makes muslims happy.
The same goes for the sentiment clap-trap of this type of video. Remembering what happened to a lot of my family.

And as for the all the scumbag politicians and religious shits lining up to lay their wreaths at the cenotaph on rememberence Sunday I find that bloody insulting considering it was THEY that caused all the deaths and misery. Sham on them.
And they do it while the brave old soldiers have to wait behind them...as they lay wreaths in a dramatically theatrically way . Pompous bastards.

Coaldust,

I largely agree with your sentiments, but perhaps from a slightly different viewpoint.

On this run-up to Rememberance Sunday, we have been treated to a succession of speeches, articles and pronouncements on the reasons why we are still at war seventy years after the last major global conflict. Year after year we hear the same repetitious hypocritical claptrap, repeated ad nauseum, and still nothing changes!

The reasons given are the same, and the slogans are the same as they have been since the end of the war they called 'The war to end all wars'. Even the basic reasons for being at war - for our freedom, and democracy, are essentially still the same as they were ninety years ago! - I wonder why that is? - could it be that the act of going to war does not do what it says 'on the label', - it doesn't ensure either of the those two criteria being either established, or continued. It could well be argued that we have less of each today than we did 'back then'. So what has been the point of so many deaths?

Is it some need for politicians, whether elected or not, to flex the military muscle at their disposal, or perhaps some desperate need to give that final edge to their petty egos, it being seen as essential to have led a nation to war, before being considered a world class statesman in the history books? So much easier to be seen in the history books as a victorius wartime Leader than as the Leader of a fiscally responsible, prosperous and stable nation, consistently enjoyng peace for its populace, and incidentally, being far more capable of helping when natural disaster strikes.

Who remembers or even knows the current or past Leaders of say, Switzerland, or come to it, the Leaders of India, a nation which while not being an example of perfection, doesn't have a reputation of waging war at the 'drop of a hat'.

Everyone has heard of Thatcher, Kennedy, Bush, even Idi Amin, of Uganda and Galleteri of Argentina, and many others, all declared wars at times when their countries were perhaps 'unsteady on their financial feet', or were in a socially disruptive phase, none actually achieved very much other than having their names writ large in the history books. Is Bush remembered more for the US's largesse when that sunami struck, or for the two wars started on his watch? Heaven forbid, but is war used as a diversion when things are going badly on the home front? - now that would be the ultimate betrayal, would it not?

The title of the clip is 'wear it with pride', - pride in what? - isn't it pride that has caused all the trouble in the first place? - I wear mine in rememberance, - of friends, family and every fresh faced teenager killed to satisfy some political philosophy.

The politicians said that they would create "a land fit for heroes",
but every day you can read of some poor old man or woman whose life is being made a misery by political decisions which result in young people and others having no respect for those who served their country.
Burglary, physical attacks, intimidation or mockery.
It is sheer bl*****y hypocrisy
