SEEN MY ART COLLECTION?

You have to wonder about the type of employee working at the BBC! What prompts this is the news story  that suggests a BBC Radio 4 presenter drugged and raped a man he met at a New Year party after inviting him back to see his art collection, a court heard today. Nigel Wrench snorted cocaine with the man at the party in south London and offered him the chance to sit in on his show, the Old Bailey was told. Back at the PM presenter's flat he poured them both a glass of champagne but when the 26-year-old man took a gulp he realised "not all was well", a jury heard. Mr Wrench denies the allegations.  Now, let's not go into the specific details here since that is a matter for the Court to deal with. But I wonder has the PM show covered this story? It is always quick enough to publicise the alleged misdeeds of others, so I wonder if this story has been given due prominence on PM?

David

I happened to be listening to Radio 4 news at 6.00pm yesterday and the story was fully reported, including the fact that the accused is a former PM presenter.

Peter,

Was it a news headline or a PM item?

It was a news item with a detailed report. I didn't hear the PM programme.

Nigel Wrench's disgusting sexuality goes back years, many years. His predatory homosexuality is well documented, but the BBC still has him on their pay-roll I believe.

There is a disproportionate number of gays at the BBC, even taking into account 'London weighting'. I wonder how they get on with their muslim colleagues?

Well done Allan. A comment that manages to combine three of your phobias in two neat sentences - gays, BBC and islam.

Dislike or disagreement is not a 'phobia', I dislike Broccoli and disagree with David Miliband's policies but am not afraid of either -

some commenter's should remember that fewer insults and name calling would certainly help advance any cause they espouse (whatever they may be).

Peter, I know some gays, I know people who watch the BBC, and I even know a muslim. I am not afraid of any of them so no 'phobia'. Now, I wonder how the gays who work at the BBC get on with their muslim colleagues. What do you reckon, Peter?

How do you know there are a disproportionate number of gays working for the BBC. Or are you just assuming that.

How desperate are some people to find a way of seeking to bash the BBC because one of their many thousands of employees is on trial.

Andrew Marr said words to that effect. I'm sure that DV through Biased BBC can back me on that.

Allan

I think the BBC has around 28,000 employees most of them doing routine technical and admin work. I doubt very much if there is a disproportionate number of gays amongst them, and as sexuality is not 100% self evident like race, how can anyone know the true allocation amongst such a large number.

Colm,

I think it may be an obligatory job requrement!!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are a disproportionate number of gays employed at the BBC (and ITV, C4, Sky etc) - You'll always find a lot of homosexuals engaged in the broadcasting industry and related fields, because by and large they're interested in, and very good at that sphere of work.

Well if that is the case Tom, and I think it would only apply to certain parts of those organisations is it wrong, any more than it could be said, sports or other more physical jobs like construction are likely to attract higher proportions of heterosexuals.
