THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

Tempus Fugit

Well, that's it from me for 2008.  I'm off to Edinburgh in the morning to spend a few days up there celebrating Hogmanay.  Can't wait for the party tomorrow night in Princes Gardens.  Stay safe for New Year.  Ciao!

I have a disk of music from Edinburgh's Tron Tavern and have always wanted to visit it.

The worse news for the Scots since the Battle of Culloden.

I kid, I kid. Enjoy, there is a group of pubs along Grassmarket Street that are in a fine long row, very convenient if one is kicked out there is another to go into. Happy New Year.

What I recall best about Edinburgh is some VERY fine Whisky.

Have a good one. Probably the best place in the world to celebrate NYE.

David, you can't be serious about Scotland having very fine Whisky? Toliet duck more like.

When you compare it to Bushmills/Jameson it pales in comparison.

Enjoy NYE in Scotland Andrew

Chris

Which would be your favorite whiskey/whisky?

Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 08:54PM | Registered CommenterThe Phantom

Beer after whiskey, very risky
Whiskey after beer, never fear

All pale beside Bushmills, Chris. But let them have and enjoy their Scotch, a drink not to be scorned.

Hope you enjoy yourself in Edinburgh, Andrew.
I presume you'll be heading out to Holyrood to pay your respects at Pàrlamaid na h-Alba.
Make sure you behave yourself; you represent your country, remember! :)

Also hope 2009 is all you want it to be.

The usual suspects are always there, like Bushmills and Jameson.

I have a very fine vintage bottle of Jameson that I got for Christmas this year which I am looking forward to sampling.

My own personal favourite however comes from a local independent distillary, the only independent distillary left in Ireland.

Cooley Whiskey is fantastic and I would encourage any Whiskey drinker who hasn't tried their excellent stocks to do so.

I will check it out if they sell it here.

I like my independent and small beers, here and elswhere, and the small distilleries should also be supported

Do they still sell Michael Collins Whiskey? I saw it advertised a couple of years ago. Sounded a bit gimicky

I used to drink Irish Whiskey all the time. I do like it, but in my not so humble opinion, its only consistently better in the lower price ranges. I'm not saying a 12-year old Jameson isnt good, but it doesnt compare to some of the better malts.

I was privleged to have a dram from a £1500 bottle at a tasting recently (I should stress that would normally be waaaaaaaaay out of my price range) which certainly beat any Irish Whiskey I'd had by a long chalk.
I will check out the cooley stuff though - good to support small business in this area before everything is owned by diageo / Inbev.
