THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

THAT UN SCHOOL...

The British media has been all over the strike by Israeli forces on a UN School in Gaza. 30 "people" have been killed and the Hamas approved images are splashed all over our screens. But here's a video below that you will not see on the MSM but which validates the Israeli stated view that this school was a Hamas stronghold. The loss of any innocent life is a terrible thing but how much worse is the calculation by Hamas that schools represent an ideal base from which they can attack Israel without excessive risk? This time, they got it wrong and the loss of any innocent life lies with the savages in Hamas. They love death like we love life. Day in, Day out, they prove it.

David -

No report, file or photograph comes out of Gaza uncensored by Hamas. The MSM often tells us that reports from war zones are subject to Israeli/British/American reporting restrictions, yet these same speakers of truth to power seem quite reticent to tell us of Hamas' restrictions.

So when a report like this appears immediately, out of the blue and with some details (such as on telegraph.co.uk which reported 40 children killed in an Israeli attack on a UN school) it's best to hold back from commenting.

Then you find that all is not what it seems. Not only is there evidence of Hamas using schools from which to launch attacks, Hamas is known to force civilians in and around launch sites.

Now, we have a Jerusalem Post update:

----------
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1231167272256&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

The IDF issued a statement saying the school grounds were used by terrorists to fire mortar shells at the troops. According to the IDF, among the dead were members of a Hamas launching cell, including operatives Immad Abu Askar and Hassan Abu Askar.

The infantrymen returned mortar shell fire into the school grounds, the army said. Defense officials told The Associated Press that booby-trapped bombs in the school triggered the secondary explosions which killed scores of Palestinians on the site.

----------
Also, from Haaretz:

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1053138.html

An IDF spokesman said that troops had fired mortar rounds at the school, after militants barricaded inside shot mortar shells at the Israeli forces.

"Initial checks ... show that from inside the school mortars were fired at Israeli forces," a spokesman said. "In response, the forces fired a number of mortar rounds into the area."

The army said that the bodies of numerous Hamas militants were found inside the school following the attack.

----------

If these reports are true, responsibility lies wholly and completely with Hamas.

For similar reporting and an extra YouTube video of that "school" check out the indispensible Michelle Malkin.

The BBC, as expected, is spluttering into its collective cornflakes in indignation.

Leftists - you disappoint me.

I expected you anti-imperialists to strike up the band and wave those pom poms. Here are your heroes. Behold the resistors, Stalingrad wasn't the half of it! There on your screen they leap into action (loosening off indiscriminately at Israelies from a school, admittedly) but lo, see how they run like girls swagger like mighty warriors.

I expected prose in honour of your Hectors, words dedicated to their mighty deeds.

Instead - tumbleweed.

..cont from the sad anniversary thread

Ernest (and Richard)

The whole point of permitting open debate is precisiely that you do allow the 'socialists/communists' to argue their point, even though I have seen precious little evidence of communist support and only one genuine socialist (daytripper) here. With regard to the debate around the Israel/Gaza conflict frankly the most abusive immature 'student union' type commentary complete with obscenities and personal insults have actually come from some of the pro-Israeli crowd here, in particular some newcomers, not the old regualrs . You may strongly disagree with the views of Noel and RS and Petr. but strictly on the topic of the conflict they have argued more maturely and less offensively and obscenely than many of their opponents here. It isn't the so-called socialists-communists here who need to clean up their act.

"only one genuine socialist (daytripper)"

Cheers.

"Haven't you heard and seen enough over the last twenty of thirty years, to form and opinion about their ideology?"

That is the wonderful thing about being an individual, there Ernie. Every person forms their own opinion (or does what there told). Those who do what they are told, vote, but don't debate. If you are good enough to carry a debate, you aren't just toeing the line but actually arguing something you believe. On that note, just because someone is a Socialist does not mean they all agree with the same things.

Look at me. I have probably argued with every single person on this site, including those who, broadly speaking, agree with me on most things. I have argued with RS, Petr, Daytripper, Noel etc on a lot of issues.

So if people argue for themselves you can't just say their argument is irrelevant because you know what their ideology thinks.

Seamus

Sorry if I left you out of my socialist list, but I could only recall daytripper openly arguing against cpitalism here on ATW.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 10:18PM | Unregistered CommenterColm

That's because Daytripper is the only openly Communist person on this site. Socialism uses the Capitalist system to the advantage of the Working Class while Communism seeks to destroy Capitalism.

Shamus,

Your point might be valid if most replies didn't merely repeat the party line, repeatedly and insistently.

Would that there was some small sign that their gibbering was the result of some real thought or had some intellectual input, - most of what appears here doesn't.

Re DT - I seem him as a maturing fellow who once enjoyed the lazy thinking, and the camaraderie, of socialism, but is now maturing into what might be described as more of a pragmatic socialist, that being the chrysalis stage of his developement into a mature free thinking adult, who doesn't dance to the tune of any party line...

It's called 'growing up' - ignoring that it is happening wont make it go away...it is something real to embrace and be proud of, rather than playing games in that fantasy world called socialism....

Colm,

DT, was not arguing against capitalism per se, he was condenming corruption which is probably far more prevelent in socialist circles than in capitalist ones.

The difference largely being that capitalists admit to seeing the profit moptive as a good thing, while the socialists prat on about 'fairness' etc. and yet are quite happy to have their noses deeply into any trough thay can find, Hypocrites, and liars to a man!...

Shamus,

You are really showing your immaturity if that is what you think was happening!..

Nowhere have I seen him promoting State control over any and every aspect of life...

"Your point might be valid if most replies didn't merely repeat the party line, repeatedly and insistently."

EarnĂ¡n, you could say that about most people on this site, regardless of their broad political affiliation. On almost every issue, you can count on David, Pete, Troll, Monica, Patty etc all agreeing, all saying the same things, just in a different way (or in George Bush English, in Troll's case :) ). It isn't something left only to the Reds.

"Nowhere have I seen him promoting State control over any and every aspect of life..."

That's not what Communism is. Communism is about State control over any and every aspect of the Economy. Authoritarianism is about State control over any and every aspect of life. Stalinism, and Leninism, happen to be a cross between the two.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 10:43PM | Unregistered CommenterSeamus

Seamus -

What?

Sorry sunshine, when the time's right you'll find me criticising Churchill and Thatcher and Reagan and Israel here.

Read the words, don't imagine them.

The change from the usual will come when you lot think for yourselves. The only difference of opinion you have with the Lefists on here is on abortion - because your Catholicism conflicts with your politics.

In every other way you read from the same dreary Naom Chomsky script.

You have a video upstairs, put up a comment on that. Go on, surprise me.

PETE

Which regular names here would you class as the unthinking unoriginal 'you lot'.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 10:54PM | Unregistered CommenterColm

Seamush,

You are probably correct, - and it does get boring doesn't it? especially if a subject was hacked over last month, - and the month before that, and again every time a new commenter decideds to throw his hat in the ring.

That seems to be why people leave, they get tired of restating their case for the edification of any twit who thinks he has something original to write. Present company excepted - of course!...

Freedom to write whatever you like without any recognition or respect for those who might read it, is both the strength and the weakness of blogging...to actually run a political blog would seem to be the quick way to insanity, unless one has a moderate, and forgiving demeanour....cough, cough!...

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 10:55PM | Unregistered CommenterErnest Young...

Semouse,

Your 10.43, is priceless piece of leftist jingoism.

What is it about 'controlling one, gives control of all', that you don't understand. - oh! that's right!, they don't actually write that in the manual do they, you have to work it out for yourself...

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:01PM | Unregistered CommenterErnest Young...

Colm -

I'm a gent and that would be to personalise things.

Therefore I cannot mention the usual, unthinking triumvirate of Seamus, RS and Peter O'Tarasov (RIP). One or two others come in for an occasional drive by.

And I'll not mention that Noel Cunningham keeps himself out of that company with some polite charm.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:12PM | Unregistered CommenterPete Moore

Diplomatically and deftly answered Pete.
