THE END OF PRIVATE BANKING IN IRELAND?
Friday, November 28, 2008 at 08:00AM When you think about it, Trade Unions tend to be little more than shills for communism.
Take this report which says that the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (Ictu) has called on the Government to nationalise the Irish banking system as a means of addressing the current financial crisis and the lack of credit for small businesses. Trade unions said that nationalisation was their preferred option.
So, the preferred future for Ireland's financial system, if we are to believe the trade unions, is the ending of private banking and the imposition of a vast state cintrolled monolith. It's most unlikely that this will happen, of course, but it is the very fact that trade unionists think it should happen that is so disturbing. These comrades seem stuck in a mid-1970's timewarp, constantly seeking to increase the power and scope of the State.

There is not a decent union in Ireland. Easters and thieves the lot of them
There then is also the consideration that about 30-40% of all Irish Banks' assests are outside of the South and thus outside of the Government's jurisdiction.
Kloot,
Same here. Wretches.
Seamus,
Fair point.
Easters and thieves the lot of them
I had wanted to write 'Wasters' there, but my phone went with 'Easters' :)
Kloot
Was wondering if you were making some kind of nationalist or anti nationalist point there!
