THE LESBIAN IVF SCANDAL
Once again, it takes the Roman Catholic Church to show moral leadership in the UK and this time round it is in response to plans to make it easier for lesbian couples to use IVF to become parents.
In a Times letter, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor said the plans were "profoundly wrong" and undermined "the place of the father in a child's life".
Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor wrote:
"The bill proposes to remove the need for IVF providers to take into account the child's need for a father when considering an IVF application, and to confer legal parenthood on people who have no biological relationship to a child born as a result of IVF. "This radically undermines the place of the father in a child's life, and makes the natural rights of the child subordinate to the desires of the couple. It is profoundly wrong"
Quite right. Where is the pusillanimous Church of England n this topic? Why is it so mute?
The Cardinal has called on the government to allow Labour members to have a free vote on this when it comes to be legislated for. I fear he will not see this happen. The government is determined to advance the militant gay agenda at all costs.

From the linked BBC report:
But Ruth Hunt, of gay rights campaign group Stonewall, said the plans did not involve "denigrating the principle of fatherhood".
"This is a very logical and timely step to ensure that a child can have two parents from the moment of conception and that is safeguarded throughout their upbringing," she said.
OK, so which woman-parent is the 'father'? The logic doesn't exist, like the father. These far-out types seem to have the support of NuLab and probably a sizeable chunk of Dave's ex-CONs.
It completely beats me why Christians vote Labour
There was a time, way back, when most people, and all denominations, would have said a male/female marriage was the only way to raise a family.
Now it it just one Christian leader.
In this post-Christian era, Terry, the electorate just do not see Christian values as relevent anymore.
The architect of our new Labour administration Anthony Blair is due to join the RC Church within weeks. Does he accept the teachings of that church to be the "revealed truth" will he for the first time ever denounce Abortion, having previously voted for it.
Will the Cardinal and the clergy "instructing" Blair get assurances from him? Or couldnt the Cardinal care less, seeing the publicity from Blair "popeing"overiding such concerns. Iam reminded we were told the Duchess of Kents conversion was to be a "quiet affair" in reality there were more cameras than at a film premiere!
Scouseproud
It is a matter for Blair to say what he believes. But the teaching of the Catholic Church on abortion is crystal clear. Here is what the Pope said today on the subject this very day.
"The right to life...is absolute,...with no exception whatsoever"
While this understanding of Christian family life finds a deep resonance in Africa, it is a matter of great concern that the globalized secular culture is exerting an increasing influence on local communities as a result of campaigns by agencies promoting abortion. This direct destruction of an innocent human life can never be justified, however difficult the circumstances that may lead some to consider taking such a grave step.
When you preach the Gospel of Life, remind your people that the right to life of every innocent human being, born or unborn, is absolute and applies equally to all people with no exception whatsoever. This equality "is the basis of all authentic social relationships which, to be truly such, can only be founded on truth and justice" (Evangelium Vitae, 57).
The Catholic community must offer support to those women who may find it difficult to accept a child, above all when they are isolated from their family and friends. Likewise, the community should be open to welcome back all who repent of having participated in the grave sin of abortion, and should guide them with pastoral charity to accept the grace of forgiveness, the need for penance, and the joy of entering once more into the new life of Christ.
