Tired of Having Diversity Shoved Down Your Throat?
Victory for individual rights at the University of Delaware! In case you haven’t been following the story, the University of Delaware indulges far-left ideologues by running a “reeducation program” for new dormitory residents. This program teaches that all Caucasians are racist, and it delves into the personal sexuality of new students by asking them personal questions like: “When did you discover your sexual identity?”
To my great personal satisfaction, one of the students -- identified as “one of the worst” of the students enrolled in the diversity reeducation program -- answered the sexual orientation question by writing: “That’s none of your damn business.” She also told the interviewer that she was tired of having “diversity shoved down her throat.”
When F.I.R.E. (The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) confronted the University regarding the program, the University initially refused to drop the program. After much outrage -- email, letters, and phone calls -- the University has now agreed to drop the program.
Joanne Jacobs at Pajamas Media writes:
In his cancellation statement, UD’s president, Patrick Harker, claimed: “The University of Delaware strives for an environment in which all people feel welcome to learn, and which supports intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, free inquiry and respect for the views and values of an increasingly diverse population."
Strive harder, guys.
I agree... Strive harder.

They let things die down and then they'll come back with the old wine in new bottles.
Banjo -- So true.
Hopefully, those who disagree with their individual rights being trod upon will turn to the FIRE website and fight back.
Ha ha! BRAVO to that student who told them to shove it up their jacksies! My responses to their "diversity awareness" crap would make them wee-wee in their stupid Marxist boots! The best response to these little Hitlers is to laugh at them.
I heard the student on the radio this morning in Philly a gutsy kid....
Here's a bit more of what she wrote;
“When she [the student], left I read the exercise. This is what it stated:
1) When were you first made aware of your race?
“That is irrelevant to everything. My race is human being.”
2) When did you discover your sexual identity?
“That is none of your damn business.”
3) Who taught you a lesson in regards to some form of diversity awareness? What was that lesson?
“My grandparents sometimes made racial comments. And what the hell does that have to do with anything?”
4) When was a time when you confronted someone regarding an issue of diversity? What was the confrontation about? If you haven’t, why not?
“Why would I do something like that? Diversity exists. I like it. Leave it at that.”
5) When was a time you felt oppressed? Who was oppressing you? How did you feel?
“I am oppressed everyday on the basis of my undying and devout feelings for the opera. Regularly passersby throw stones at me and jeer me with cruel names. Because of this I am exiled and often contemplate suicide. Unbearable adversity. But I will overcome, hear me, you rock-loving majority. (This is called ‘sarcasm.’)”
Patty -
Thanks for bringing this to our attention in this couple of posts. Clearly, the University of Delaware and the British police forces are kindred spirits.
Truly, modern Leftism is a mental illness.
I liked the bit where a Latino student praised the program and said that even though he/she had lived in the US for twelve years, it was a good program because it made him/her realise how 'oppressed' they'd been the entire time...without even realising it before.
Pathetic. But its only the very tiny tip of an enormous iceberg of indoctrination, the same as the type that is going on in our British schools, and starting at a much, much younger age.
I would like to buy that student a pint. Oh I wish there were more thinkers-and opera lovers- like that.
DSD - the indoctrination starts at a young age here, too. We are in the same boat when it comes to public education.
