UN AS EFFECTIVE AS EVER...

Remember the pleas from the "international community" for the UN to intervene in the war between Israel and the terrorists in Hezbollah that occupied south Lebanon last year? Only the UN could stop the violence and ensure real peace, right? So anyway I read that Hezbollah has built a NEW network of underground military bunkers under the feet of United Nations peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon close to Israel’s border. It has rebuilt its fighting capability and Israeli intelligence now estimates that it has stockpiled 20,000 rockets. 20,000 rockets and the UN doesn't notice, doesn't do anything? The UN is institutionally opposed to the existence of Israel and the idea that it was going to do anything to prevent Israel's enemies was always pure moonshine.

"Hezbollah will never leave southern Lebanon,” said Shaul Mofaz, the former Israeli defence minister, last week. “It’s now armed with rockets that could hit central and even southern Israel.”

I suppose from a UN perspective that is a good result!
