THE PRICE OF REWARDING TERRORISM

You do not defeat terrorism by rewarding terrorists, regardless of how many bleeding heart liberals argue otherwise. Want to know where that flawed approach leads to? Read UNIONISM DECAYED 1997-2007 - It's my first book and it explains what happens when you seeek to appease terrorists and call it peace. It's available right now for ATW readers so make sure you get your copy by emailing the editor! This is the book that dissents from the herd mentality that doing wrong can lead to being right. It doesn't and this book spells out WHY.

UNIONISTS SUPPORT THE IRA !

How heart-warming. Back to that infamous poll in this evening's Belfast Telegraph - it seems that 48% of DUP supporters reckon that IRA commander Martin McGuinness is "doing a good job" as Deputy First Minister. Hard to say what they base this on, what tangible achievements he has made that were not in place, but hey, those DUP supporters do seem to love our Marty. What can I say - McGuinness is a monster and yet half the DUP support base allegedly rate him. Wonder what the next of kin of those slaughtered by the ferocious IRA brigade in the North-West make of this? And in particular, I wonder if the families of those poor people blown to bits in the little village of Claudy all those years ago are cheering-on our wonderful Mr. McGuinness? Is he the king of hearts, or a bloody knave?

Unionism is a strange political cult and it strikes me that it is increasingly morally bankrupt. That being the case, I question what value it has? If it embraces murderous terrorist scum, does it not simultaneously betray itself? What value has a devolved Parliament that rewards killers? Oddly enough, whilst I think this poll overstates the support for McGuinness amongst the DUP base somewhat, I'm sure many amongst the Paisley flock will continue to worship their master as he drives them over the cliff. Unionism which sups with terrorists is worthless, little wonder IRA/Sinn Fein feel so elated.

We do not support the IRA. Unionists said mcguinness has done a good job in office so far. That is not support for the IRA.

Stir away David, your problem is based within the Church not within voters of the DUP.

The crisis is in the Church, not the whole of unionism.

Hannah,

See my response to your previous comments, appeasers can appease away.

When did McGuinness leave the IRA? What specifics has he done that enthuse you? Did you approve of his previous plans to destroy our Grammar schools?

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:25PM | Registered CommenterDavid Vance

Perhaps the poll is limited to his actions as Deputy First Minsiter and not to a judgment of him in total (which one would imagine would have a differnt outcome).

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:28PM | Unregistered Commentermahons

NO, I didn't approve of him trying to destroy grammar schools. I'M NOT AN APPEASER.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:34PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

Dr Jekyll good - Mr Hyde bad.

What are these mighty achievements? Specifically?

LOL - it's NIO propaganda, same as ever.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:34PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

Hannah,

Nor am I. Those who support the IRA in government, in my book, are clearly appeasers. For decades the IRA bombed and murdered their way into political talks. Who seeks to reward them???

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:38PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

No mentions of schisims in the paper either David.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:38PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

Hannah,

Well, it MUST be true if you don't read it in the press!

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:43PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

If there was a bad story out there I'm sure they'd find it. As for the press, it was you in village magazine that was made look as if you came from the dark ages. You gave the interview and she used you to make her point.

Bad example David. Now stop fighting and being cross.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:47PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

Hannah,

For years, the NIO has used our lickspittle media to propagate its objectives.

As for the Village magazine, not sure which part of it made me seem medieval? It's a leftist rag, who cares?

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 05:51PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

Who cares? You should. If you seek to influence the people to come round to your point of view. And others who are dissatisfied and who could possibly be using you.

Unionism is a strange political cult and it strikes me that it is increasingly morally bankrupt

Unionism doesn't begin and end with the DUP's twisted present version.

The maintenance of the Union has become a distant second priority now to the Ulster Nationlists; as long as they continue to wield political and cultural power within their own little, well-defined Prodistan ,I really think that they couldn't give two hoots whether their ultimate legislature is London or Dublin.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 06:01PM | Unregistered Commenteroneill

Agreed ONEILL. This is one of my central contentions.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 06:36PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

Village is a leftist rag! LOL. You still could resist the chance to get your name in it though.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 07:58PM | Unregistered CommenterJG

...couldn't resist.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 07:58PM | Unregistered CommenterJG

JG,

I was telephoned and asked my opinion. Geddit?? LOL - best to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are stupid rather than open it and leave them in no doubt!!

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:19PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

best to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are stupid rather than open it and leave them in no doubt!!

Funny, was just about to say that to you re your Village comments.

I was telephoned and asked my opinion

So you didn't ask who was calling? Do you usually give opinions to "leftist rags"? Or is it just anyone who'll have you?

You sounded like the dinosaur that you are, by the way.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:23PM | Unregistered CommenterJG

JG,

Pity you were too slow-witted to actually say it then.

I was contacted by Fionula Meredith, a lady who also does the Hearts and Minds programme that I contribute to. I was happy to oblige her with a brief interview and I hope she got paid well for her article. I got nothing for it.

The thing about those who call me a dinosaur is that most of them more closely resemble political plankton so I prefer to be at the higher end of the evolution scale.

Try harder.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:28PM | Registered CommenterDavid Vance

Try harder

Oh, I really don't need to but I think your past electoral record speaks for itself.

higher end of the evolution scale

LOL - 'yesterday's man' would be very generous.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:32PM | Unregistered CommenterJG

JG,

Your high standard of debate reminds me of Patrick McCrory - another Irish Republican genius! Stick to the topic or take a hike, no more time for trolls.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:38PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

JG

What is wrong with someone giving an interview to a publication whose views differ from his own ?

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:38PM | Unregistered Commentercolm

Did I say there was anything wrong with it, Colm?

David,

Just responding to what I see. Run away if you like though...

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 08:41PM | Unregistered CommenterJG

JG

Well your comments about David contributing to the village were hardly complimentary or even neutral.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 09:15PM | Unregistered Commentercolm

Hate to state the obvious but the direct reason Mcguiness is where he is now is because of the votes his party receives - not what he may have done in the past.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 09:44PM | Unregistered Commenterandy

Andy,

Hate to state the obvious but justice does not have a sell-by date.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 09:48PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

If I could bring up the poll.

David the only politician in tonights Telegraph to criticise Ian Paisley's DUP is Danny Kennedy.

'It is clear t me and increasingly the Unionist population, based on this information, that Dr Paisley has over turned his previously stated position in relation to SF in government in spectacular style.
The First Minister is now doing exactly what he criticised others for doing. The real question here is - what was the past 38 years about?'

The paper states that among DUP supporters 63% say Paisley is performing well, and only 6% of Protestants as a whole believe together they are not working well.

Those are pretty good stats.

Tonight, I've just got back from a night in November in the Opera house. The bashing that protestantism/unionism received in that show was unbelieveable. I've come away from it feeling and reeling from what it inflicted upon my community. It's made my moral low I can tell you that much. protraying everything positive about Irishness even down to their families and where they live while the protestant, felt left out with his wife, job community. Really bad show for its protrayal of us.

We need to embrace the peace and start building up our communities, not create division.

I hope we are not fell out over our differences. Believe me voters for the DUP are not appeasers.

Goodnight.

Hannah,

I went to school with Danny, he and I sat beside each other at Primary school!

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10:44PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

Are we friends again?

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10:45PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

Hannah,

When did we stop being friends? I respect your views and I hope you respect mine. Sometimes friends argue but when all is said and done, we can get along. I have done a VLOG on my views on this topic which you might like to watch, will publish soon.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10:55PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

I would like to watch it.

Thanks.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10:55PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

Doesn't this topic contradict what you had to say in the "History Repeats" topic?

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:30PM | Unregistered Commenterflaming lip

That was directed to David, by the way.

Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:32PM | Unregistered Commenterflaming lip

You are spot on today David - ignore the village idiots like Hannah and her operas.

Friday, August 10, 2007 at 03:49AM | Unregistered CommenterPete

Pete

Hannah is not an idiot. She and David have both exchanged passionately held opinions which they are entitled to respectively hold and have done so without using insults or rudeness. You display only your own ignorance with a comment like that.

Friday, August 10, 2007 at 07:19AM | Unregistered Commentercolm

Hannah,

If you read this maybe you'd care to review the play that you saw at Opera House? If you email it to me, I will publish it for you. It's got a of publicity and I'bd be interested in your review of it.

Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 01:41PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

ok, can't say I've got an awful lot more to say on it though.

Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 04:33PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

Tell us how you, as a unionist, felt the pkay was balanced? What points did it make? Give it a whirl!

Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 04:47PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Vance

ok.I'm on it.

Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 05:15PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

ok, I sent you the e mail, with my views but like I said, I'm no writer like you are, but I think I gave you the way the play was balanced, which was one sided.

Like I said, I'm no literary critic, LOL, nor writer. An e mail or a comment to post, thats the height of it. I'm a form filler and a memo sender David LOL

Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 08:01PM | Unregistered CommenterHannah

I just heard this had a review in the irish news. It's not a paper I buy i'm afraid. Maybe you could let me know what it says if you post about it.
