This is Conservative leader David Cameron and the likely next UK PM speaking on the issue of Turkey and the EU just the other day.
"We will press to keep the doors of the European Union open to new member states, especially to entrench stability in the Western Balkans where so much European blood has flowed, and also to Turkey. "
And then here is Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan speaking...
"Those who criticize Iran's nuclear program continue to possess the same weapons," Erdogan said. "I think that those who take this stance, who want these arrogant sanctions, need to first give these weapons up. We shared this opinion with our Iranian friends, our brothers."
Yes, Cameron - open the doors of the EU and let in 71 millions Muslims in. What a great idea. I am sure their Iranian "brothers" will just love that.

I notice Sarkozy in france is launching a national debate about what it is to be French. This debate, what is it to be (insert nationality) is happening all over western Europe. Why is such a crisis of identity going on in western Europe but not in the near,middle or far east, or indeed anywhere else. It's immigration. Western Europe is losing national identities and becoming a melting pot of goodness knows what? Just let 'em in, and then sit around and muse as to why the BNP are on the rise.

It's lucky that Merkel and Sarkozy will not allow the Turks to join. There is massive opposition in both Germany and France.
So Cameron's views will be ignored where it matters. Maybe his far-right allies in Poland and the Baltic states will support him, but who the **** cares about those bottom-feeders?

The advance of the Ottoman empire had nothing to do with "Islam", the Ottomans allowed religious freedom for the various nationalities and minorities in their empire. The were in fact strongly supporting Protestanism in central eastern Europe at the time and had put a Protestant on the throne of Hungary; they also planned to make a Protestant king of Austria if Vienna was captured. Their advance was thus very much supported by reformed Christians throughout what is now Czech, Hungary and former Yugoslavia.

If the Ottomans were supporting protestants, it was to weaken their long term foes the Habsburgs - the same reason why Louis XIV refused to send military help to his fellow-christians in 1683.
There are people around today in Europe, Muslims and others, who say that the Islamic invasion and siege of Vienna in 1683 was welcomed by the European Christians and that they should not have resisted the imposition of wonderful shariah law; just as there are those Muslims and their supporters, who say that the Islamic invasion of Spain in the eigth century was a wonderful thing. The religious map in the area around Bosnia was very complicated at the time (like now!); there were various overlapping factions of Orthodox, Catholics, a few Muslim settlers and above all many Christian sects that were close to Catholicism but rejected, and suppressed, by Rome (and by the E Orthodox church). It was generally adherents of these sects who converted en masse to Islam around the early 16th C. There were also political and economic factors at play - they had been unjustly dominated by Hungarian Catholics and wanted out; there were also economic benefits of sharing the faith of the new rulers.
There was strangely very little conversion activvity by the Turks.
Albanians, Kosovars and the Roma and Sinti in the region are also usually Muslim.

Of course, but their treaty with the Hungarian Protestants to give them the throne of Austria suggests that the Ottoman motivation in central Europe was not religious.

I think you are going too far there Noel, the Ottomans weren't particularly zealous by the standards of the age but they didn't allow religious freedom in the sense we would understand it now. Although when they did repress a religion it was usually for political rather than theological reasons.

According to Noel Malcolm's "History of Bosnia", there wasn't forced conversion in Bosnia, however the control of the Catholic and Orthodox churches was very weak. For the same reason there was an independent Bosnian church for centuries. So for most of the peasents it was a case of converting from a kind of weak folk Christianity to a weak folk Islam.

The "One Worlders" create the crisis, the public demands a solution and the "One Worlders" give us their "dark Europe" plan as the solution. And apparently the EEC held highly secret talks with the oil feudalists back in the 1970s (Euro -Arab dialogue) where it was agreed to transform Europe into Islamic Eurabia through immigration.
