WHY TYRONE PEOPLE ARE THICK..
Interesting to note that people from County Tyrone "are thick."
Well, at least that's according to Judge Sean Martin McBride who sits in Monaghan court, in the Republic of Ireland.
It's a curious case. The lady that provoked this outburst was 22 year old Sarah McGrath from Donaghmore, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. She was summonsed to appear in the court by mistake but.turned up anyway but only carried £ sterling, not € Euros to pay the fine that was not hers anyway!!! It's all too mad.
I suggest that whilst one might question Ms McGrath's common sense - the thickness lies entirely with the Judge!

Hang on .....
Sarah McGrath, 22, from Donaghmore, was wrongly summonsed to court because her details matched another woman's ..... Legal technicalities meant she had to pay to get the case thrown out.
Huh?
What proof is there that Tyrone people are not thick? <g>

Yes, those are some technicalities indeed.Thats a hell of a system

Phantom, I don't know which way it stands to your question, but several of the signatories to the US constitution in 1776 had their origins in this county, as have several US presidents, including Uly. Grant, Woodrow Wilson and, I believe, Bill Clinton!
The judge should be censured for that comment.
Mahons,
If their football supporters are any measure, Justice McBride isn't too far off the mark. ;)
Reg -there is a concept called taking judicial notice of a known fact (ex. Albany is the capital of New York).
Mahons,
The judge is correct. Here's another example of Tyrone thickness:
True, Dawkins, and yet another...
"After his divorce from Christian, Tyrone Power had a long lasting love affair with Mai Zetterling. At this point in time, however, he vowed that he would never marry again, because he had been twice burned financially from his previous marriages. In 1958, however, he met Deborah Ann Montgomery Minardos. They were married on May 7, 1958, and she became pregnant soon after."
Can't get much thicker than that.
Where is Martin when you need him? ;)
